Ecuador's residence options split into a retirement route built around a foreign pension and a set of investment routes that share the same qualifying threshold but differ in where the money goes — a bank deposit, shares in a company, or real estate. Because the three investment routes are priced at the same threshold, the choice mostly comes down to what an applicant already wants to hold: cash in a deposit, ownership in a business, or a property. Each route leads toward permanent residence and, later, citizenship, and the three investment routes don't require monthly income to be proven separately once the qualifying investment is in place.
