Cyprus offers two residency routes covered here, and they sit at different points on the same spectrum. The permanent residence route is investment-led, granting long-term status in exchange for a qualifying investment that must be maintained for as long as the residency is held. The temporary visitor permit, known locally as the pink slip, instead asks for proof of income earned from outside Cyprus, renewed periodically rather than tied to a one-time investment. Neither route depends on employment inside Cyprus.
